Kiamba Valley Farm House
The award-winning Kiamba Valley Farmhouse, recipient of the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland House of The Year for the Sunshine Coast 2024, stands as a modern interpretation of the traditional Queensland farmhouse. Designed by Aspect Architecture and built by Mosaic Constructions, this sprawling residence blends seamlessly into the rolling hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, reflecting both the history of the land and the needs of a growing family.
Drawing from the property’s roots as a cattle farm, the farmhouse features pavilion-style ‘outhouses’ and carefully selected natural materials that celebrate rural living. The robust construction and meticulous craftsmanship ensure the home’s longevity and connection to its surroundings, while offering a refined aesthetic that speaks to the traditional vernacular.
The timber windows and doors play a significant role in enhancing the home’s connection to the land, framing views of the valley and allowing light to flood the interior. The result is a residence that not only respects its history but also redefines the possibilities of modern rural architecture.
